This is an expansion chassis for any APC SmartUPS series UPS. A single SmartUPS typically has only one expansion slot to allow the plug-in of expansion cards and modules. If you have a requirement to plug in more than one card into a single UPS, then you will require this chassis. It connects to the Smart DB9 serial port and provides you with 3 additional SmartSlots. This chassis does not use up the existing SmartSlot so you end up with a total of 4 available SmartSlots.
